GREEN WEEK in WHITCHURCH


21st – 29th SEPTEMBER 2019


Whitchurch Green Week and Low Waste Whitchurch is supporting the wider Basingstoke Green Week 2019. As well as regular activities around the town a number of local events are being held.

ALL WEEK


BUS WALKS
Whitchurch has two 'Bus Walks' where you can combine a trip on a bus linked to a country walk. Pick up a leaflet from the Town Hall or Gill Nethercott Centre.

Dr BIKE
Why not have your bicycle given a free check over? Receive a report on what may be needed to keep it in good condition and have it checked over for safety.

BEE INSPIRED (Exhibition)
All Hallows Parish Church, Church Street: Opens Monday 23rd and on show until 30th September.
An Exhibition of artwork encouraging the importance of Bees to wildlife, planting and flowers, by children from Whitchurch (C of E) Primary School.


PHOTO COMPETITION
Theme: "Green Whitchurch" – please submit files to contact@whitchurchgreen.org.uk BEFORE Sunday September 22nd.
Entries will be placed on the town website and a small prize and certificate provided to the winners (Adult and Children Classes).

SUNDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER


CAR FREE DAY
Today is World Car Free Day – if you drive perhaps try not to use a car – walk, cycle, bus, or train maybe?
Maybe cycle to the shops or walk to meet friends? The day is about trying to leave the car at home.

ELECTRIC BIKE RIDE
Do you have an electric bicycle? A very gentle afternoon ride finishing with a coffee and cake.
Meet at the Gill Nethercott Centre at 2.30pm and finish with a tea or coffee.

All Hallows Parish Church, Church Street: On show until 30th September.

TALK ON COMMUNITY BIO-DIGESTERS
Parish Hall: 7.30pm
A talk by Basingstoke Transition Network on Community Bio-Digesters and how they can help deal with waste.
Could Whitchurch benefit? Come along and find out all about this technology.

MONDAY / WEDNESDAY / FRIDAY 23/25/27th SEPTEMBER

No.59 (COMMUNITY BUS)
Did you know Whitchurch had its own bus service on the mornings of these days? Service 59 links from areas including Fairfields, the Knowlings, Lynch Hill Park and Laverstoke into Whitchurch town centre for visits to the shops, or maybe just for a coffee.
Pick up a leaflet from the Town Hall for timings.

WEDNESDAY 25th SEPTEMBER


A MORNING WALK
Gill Nethercott Centre: 9.45am for 10.00am
Why not join in the health walk from the Gill Nethercott Centre and discover how walking can make your life so much better – and enjoy a good social event too. There are two walks, one of around an hour and one of 90 minutes. Arrive 15 minutes early to register. Suitable footwear advised.

No need to travel to the large supermarkets.
Enjoy a cuppa and a chinwag too.

GREEN FAIR at the Gill Nethercott Centre
Visit the many activities at the Gill Nethercott Centre from 1.30pm – 4.30pm, all with an environmental theme. Meet, chat, share ideas.
